I already miss Ha Noi. I don't miss the heat. But I miss Vietnam...

Bangkok is hot for 2AM... not has hot as Ha Noi, but much more humid. I'm broke as hell... surviving off of $20 that Lan Anh's mother gave me... yikes... and hey, no one will exchange Vietnam Dong.. whats up with that???


Oh well, I have to stay in the airport.. the last time I left, it was a rather.. hmm... expensive lesson in what taxi service NOT to take... and if i left i wouldnt have enough money for airport tax.


It feels strange going back to Berkeley... I will be able to read the street signs again.. but I will miss the beauty and life that Ha Noi and the other cities of vietnam that i passed or stayed in had to offer... such tear jerking moments... the rain forrest... the rice patie farmers at dawn with the oxyn... the tropical beaches... the lovely food and people... but hey, i wont have to worry about aggressive peddlers of every thing from motorbikes to lighters. One guy followed lan anh and i for like 40 minutes and bargained with um.. our backs... trying to sell me a Zippo lighter. Good deal, but i had no money...

but i wouldnt mind all that so much.. better than the corporate every thing that I have to deal with back home.. it might be friendlier on the surface, but the money goes to the wrong places. At least I felt more.... I dont know.. like money there went to help more people... its just a hard life for to many, but I guess I've learned to appreciate my own more.

Oy, at least I can see some decent movies, hehe... buying cheap DVDs is cool...but sometimes u want to go see a movie, that might be tasteless, standard film industry plot.. but at least the action and graphics dont look so corny ;-P... maybe I just need to learn Vietnamese... well.. I am going to take it this fall semester.. assuming I'm going back to Berkeley..

So much to think about, so much to live for, and indeed.. the journal is just beginning....
